In collaboration with GIMPA and ILGS, Social Audit Unit of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is leading a project aimed at creating Social Audit Committees in 10 districts (including 7 in the Western Region). These Committees are composed of 5 very proactive citizens and recognized within their communities. The 10 districts have been identified with regards to their dynamism in public dialogue. The aim of this initiative is to train and equip some citizens with the requisite knowledge to become spokespersons within their communities. This would enable them to manage the tools in social accountability. After having reviewed every method in a plenary and in an interactive way, participants practiced in working groups (documentation, reporting, sharing of findings, citizens’ Charter, citizen report card, etc.). The atmosphere was collegiate and studious. These Social Audit Committees will have the opportunity to practice their acquired knowledge in public hearings scheduled in July and August 2016, benefiting from the support of the Social Audit Unit of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
