Maritime Security: Ghana and France working together
HE François Pujolas, Ambassador of France to Ghana visited the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA). Their discussion covered the Maritime Security issues in the Gulf of Guinea, including the fight on trafficking, piracy and illegal fishing.
Mr. Pujolas highlighted the French engagement, especially through the numerous exercises led together with the Ghanaian Marine following French Marine vessels’ port calls: 11 since the end of 2013. They also discussed Ghana’s role as part of the ECOWAS Integrated Maritime Strategy (IMS).
Mr. Pujolas congratulated Ghana for its decision to establish the Maritime Multinational Coordination Centre (MMCC) in Accra. This visit was also a chance to visit the Vessel Traffic Information Management System (VTIMS), which plays a fundamental role in the framework for maritime traffic control.
