Goût de France / Good France, 2ⁿᵈ service on 21 March 2016!

The Embassy of France in Ghana held a press conference at the Residence of France on Wednesday 09th of March 2016 to officially launch the Gout de France/Good France event in Ghana.

This year and for the second edition of the worldwide Goût de France / Good France event, 10 restaurants from Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi and Akosombo (up from one only last year) will participate and offer a French Dinner on March 21st.

Each chef will offer a “French-style” menu in his restaurant while remaining free to highlight his own culinary traditions and cultures. In each participating restaurant, the event will pay tribute to a vibrant, open and innovative cuisine, while remaining true to its values of sharing, pleasure, and respect for good food and for the planet. This will be a rare opportunity for Ghanaians to discover and enjoy the ‘Taste of France’ here in Ghana.

The restaurants were selected by an international selection committee of chefs, chaired by Alain Ducasse along with Paul Bocuse (France), Raymond Blanc (United Kingdom), Thomas Keller (United States), Kiyomi Mikuni (Japan), Paul Pairet (China), Joël Robuchon (France), Nadia Santini (Italy), Guy Savoy (France)…

On March 21st, in 150 countries around the world, restaurants and embassies will offer 1500 dinners to celebrate the French gastronomy, listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage.

During the press conference, the Ambassador of France to Ghana, HE François Pujolas briefed about the upcoming 2nd edition of the international ‘Goût de France/ Good France’ event. He recalled that “French gastronomy is renowned all over the world for its quality and its diversity. Born out of a remarkable age old heritage, our gastronomy is in constant evolution thanks to the creativity of our chefs whose aim is always to surprise and delight us.”

Representatives and chefs of participating restaurants from all across Ghana were also present to share their take on French cuisine and the menu that they will all serve on March 21st, 2016 in their respective restaurants.

In Accra, the Ambassador of France to Ghana Francois Pujolas and his wife will host an exclusive and private French gastronomical dinner at the Residence of France on this day to showcase this theme. For this special occasion, a young talented French chef, Mr. Nicolas Nguyen Van Hai, from the famous restaurant “Le Chapon Fin” in Bordeaux city is specially invited to Accra, to serve a prestigious diner to high-profile guests from the political, business and cultural community as well as the media groups from Ghana.

Last year, this international gastronomical event, initiated by the famous French chef Alain Ducasse and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development was already a great success, with participation of over 1000 restaurants all around the world.

The menu’s price is at the restaurant’s discretion, and they are all encouraged to donate 5% of proceeds to a local NGO promoting health and environment. It is recommended to book your table in advance in one of these restaurants which are listed below.
